About
Hello folks, and welcome to Lifting the Lid, a blog for writers, photographers and anyone with a zest for life, a bit of controversy, a sprinkling of irreverence, a laugh or two or just basically a whole load of opinionated effluent!
My name is Steve Lean and I’m a freelance writer, photographer and website designer. I am British but have been living in southern Spain since 2003. Since the mid-90s I have been making my living doing all of the above. It’s never going to make me a millionaire but hey, do I care?
The important thing for me? To be happy where I am in life. I love my work, my family, my friends, my life and all who are in it. Beats money any day.
So, come with me on my journey into the manhole of life where I seek out all those juicy brown sticky bits at the bottom. I hope you find it informative, or enlightening, or aggravating, or just plain annoying! If it provokes any reaction at all then I’ll have done what I set out to do.
If you like what I say and want to keep in the loop, you can subscribe to the RSS feed with the big orange button up on the right, or follow me on Twitter using the cute little blue bird, also up there on the right.
It is my hope and intention that this blog should, at the very least, be a bloody good read and spark off a bit of lively debate. So don’t just sit on the fence, that’s where the boring masses are. Jump off and get stuck in with your comments. Big me up or shoot me down, it doesn’t matter, just get involved, anything but sit there on that post-and-rail waiting for the farmer to shoot your arse off.
A word of warning: Sometimes the ‘f’ word is the only word that fits a certain situation, if you’re offended by it maybe you should think about getting out more!
I’m not trying to be deliberately provocative, I’m just telling it like it is. I read, I observe, I form an opinion and I write about it. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I talk a load of rubbish. I just don’t want you to be surprised by anything you may not want your dear old Granny to see.
Y’all have a nice day now and always remember this…
…er, I forgot.
Steve
